Live Well UK provides the NHS funded stop smoking service in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. This contract was awarded after a lengthy tendering process.
The service was named “Kick It” to give it a catchy, memorable brand and in our first year we saw over 4000 smokers and helped nearly half of these quit. Compared to the previous year this was an increase in activity of 48% and all of the quality indicators set by the NHS were exceeded.
The Kick It team provide advice direct to smokers at a drop in centre and other locations throughout the community including workplaces, prisons and schools. The service has also developed clinics in over 70 GP practices and pharmacies by training and developing staff in these locations. The service, which is promoted through social marketing campaigns and outreach teams, uses mobile and web based technology to enhance communication with clients.
